I have a special fondness for Kookaburras’.
Where I live these little jokers are a common sight in our back yard. Cocking their heads in concentration, they watch and listen intently before pouncing so precisely, from a height, to capture worms buried underground. How they do this so deftly I just can’t fathom.
Over the years I’ve watched their families grow and I’ve particularly loved listening to the youngsters as they do their vocal exercises in training for the laugh we all recognise so well.
