This is Leddy named after an amazing bird photographer Luke Leddy whom I discovered during one of my on line photo trawling episodes.
I love this feathery fellow just as I loved the original photograph that inspired me to put paint brush to paper.
‘Leddy’ was the painting that helped me release my creative inhibitions and during the process of creation I began to allow the paint drops and drips to show.
I used a Chinese calligraphy brush with watercolour so my technique needed to be quick and free to get the best results.
I was channeling the Japanese Sumi-e style painters and with this piece I became more fearless in my expression. For this reason, ‘Leddy’ is one of my fav’s.
The original painting is an interpretation of a photograph taken by and for which I give credit to, Luke Leddy.
