Vasco is a name I chose for this raven purely because I liked the way it sounded. The name sounds Spanish to me yet this painting is reminiscent of Japanese art. I used a Sumie’ brush and I had to keep the brush strokes fast, employing all the confidence I could muster.

I am very pleased with the mood and the Japanese feel I somehow was able to impart in this painting. I also love the sinister countenance on Vasco’s demeanour.
